Endodontics

Endodontics is the branch of dental medicine that deals with the treatment of dental nerve disorders. Popularly, endodontic treatment is also known as “pulling out the nerve”. Basically, endodontics is the intervention by which a tooth with a deep damage to the dental nerve is saved from extraction.

Endodontic treatment is required when the dental pulp is inflamed or infected and conservative treatments have failed or cannot be applied.

Other situations that recommend endodontic treatment: dental fractures, incorrect dental treatments, strong blows to the teeth. Untreated inflammations become infected and sometimes cause dental abscesses.

Through root canal treatment, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed, the walls of the pulp chamber and the root canal are thoroughly cleaned, and the resulting space is then sealed. In a subsequent session, the doctor will restore the shape of the tooth, restoring not only its former appearance, but also its functionality.
